Welcome back everyone!

It was great to see you for our first class of the fall semester. I hope everyone had a great summer vacation, and that you're ready to work hard in OE2 this semester!

Vocabulary Notebook:
You'll have to keep a vocabulary notebook this semester. For our lesson next week, you need to organize your notebook into five sections:
a) SD vocab
b) Prez vocab
c) My Own vocab
d) Notes
e) Hmwk

Syllabus and Schedule:
We went through our course guides. This semester, you'll do three presentations. One is a "Opinion" presentation. This is similar to our discussions last semester. The other two are "Debate" presentations. For these, you will work with a partner.

Opinion Giving Review:
We had an opinion structure and expressions review activity. When you give your opinion, you need to include (a) your opinion; (b) a reason; and (c) examples.

You can review the slide presentation on the website in the Discussion Skills --> Lesson Materials.

Homework:
  1. Blog Posting #1. For this semester, you need to write a minimum of 12 sentences.
  2. Prepare Vocabulary Notebook. The file for the Vocabulary Notebook Guidelines is at the end of today's summary.
  3. Bring a pocket file to class next week (40 pages)
  4. Write your summary in your vocabulary notebook in the "Hmwk" section.
  • Before your write your summary, review "How to Summarize." This slide presentation is in the Discussion Skills--> Lesson Materials section. Click here for the slides: How to Summarize.
  • Also, download and read the "Writing Your Summary" file. Put this in your pocket file. When you write your summary, leave one space between each sentence.
  • Write down new words from your article in you vocabulary notebook in the "My Own Vocab" section.

Absent Students:
You need to download the materials at the end of today's summary and complete all of the homework for next week's lessons. For the summary homework, download "Summary Topics." Choose one of these topics and write a summary.
