Hi everyone,

We're finished with presentations!! For our last two classes of the semester, we'll have some "fun" classes, so make sure to come.

Presentations:

We finished with our second group of presentations in today's lesson.

Overall, I was really happy to see a big improvement in eye contact and gestures this week. Also, presenters knew their information well, and didn't need to use their notes very often. Great work!

I was happy to see that many presenters used expressions that they had learned from our discussions: "Let's move onto..." and "Are you following me?"

Grade for Semester 1:
By the end of our course, I will have your semester 1 grade calculated. If you would like to know your grade, please email me and I'll send it to you.

For students who do not pass the course this semester, I will contact you and let you know the minimum score you'll have to get to pass both semesters.

Your grade includes these activities:
a. Discussion Leading & Worksheets (2)  40%
b. Blog Postings (12)  25%
c. Group Presentation 25%
d. Speed Discussion  10%

Homework:
1. Blog Comment #11

Blog Question #11:

Choose one question to answer.

Question for today's presenters:
How did you feel about your presentation? What did you do well? What do you have to improve?

Question for today's audience:
Which presentation did you like the best? Why?

All group presentations were great. A theme of suicide was most interesting to me. Suicide by work has the great interest in particular. I think it's so different to become painful that I feel like dying though I'm working hard. I'm hoping to want these Japanese working hours to be shorter. I think the lack of sleep is the cause which connects most depressingly. Japan people have an image with a lot of serious people. I want more people to live healthily freely.

I was interested in the topic of monster parents. That’s because, this theme was the familiar to me. When I was the junior high school student, there were many monster parents in my school. They often made complaints about schooling. Many monster parents' children in my school were only child. Consequently, they couldn't consult with family about school because their parents complained to school at once. I knew these facts. So I wanted to hear detailed information of Japanese monster parents. I think that monster parents should decrease in Japan in order to protect children and the school. In these circumstances, I was very interested in this topic of presentation.

I took charge of solutions part. One of my group members suggested on the night of the previous day that difficult word should have written small paper and we would give a presentation while showing it. Thanks to it, I think listeners could understand easily. Personally, I should have remembered speaking contents more. I spent a lot of time to look at manuscript. I want to speak only note. Also, when I was asked a question, I sometimes couldn't answer it. I must have prepared solution's information more. I made an effort to make eye contact with listeners but I forgot about asking "Are you following me?" too concentrate eye contact. I want to ask listeners whether they understand or not next time.

Our presentation was about bullying. I really checked a thing about various bullying because it had not been done that I watched bullying. And I was able to know the bullying though this presentation in detail. Presentation in itself shared contents to tell and was able to cooperate. The making of poster is similar, too. However, I was afraid whether it was answered well when it was asked you a question in the listener side. Because there was the strain, it was difficult. But I was able to cope in cooperation with a member, I look forward to the announcement of the group of the next week, too.

I think I did pretty well on my presentation. During our presentation I spoke loudly so that the audience could hear and clearly understand. I also didn’t forget eye contact to everyone. The most difficult thing was not to read my paper. Before our presentation I repeatedly read and remembered my paper. I think I did good. I think our presentation poster was beautiful and well organized. We used the photos of pretty babies so that everybody would be attracted to our theme. We are proud of our poster. I can say our presentation was well done.

I was member of the group about "suicide". First is about poster. This theme is heavy, but we able to made a poster colorful. Furthermore, I think we were able to make the poster that contents of the presentation are easy to be understood. Second is about speech. I was tense very much, so I couldn't take the eye contact more than usual.
In addition, I couldn't talk without reading a manuscript. However, I think I could tall in a loud voice. This presentation was the good opportunity because I could understand about the part which oneself should improve. I make use of this reflection, and want to do its best next time, too.

I was neihter a presenter, nor audience in lessen 13 because I was absent. So I would like to talk about my volunteer days.
From July 1st to July 3rd,I worked for the elementary school in Yokohama.I led a party of schoolchildren on a visit to Nikko.it is a experience studing stay activity at Nikko,it is called "Nikko Shukuhaku Taiken Gakushu" in Japan. It is the 6th time that I have worked volunteer for this elementary school's stay activity.
It went fast, but it was a fulfilling 3 days.many troubles were happened but I think that children can make fun memories.
When I came back school, I feel deadly tired. This kind of thing is the first time for me.I talked to teachers about I was feeling, They said "It is evidence that you become a true teacher little by little." It means I become be able to work without instructions.I think I want to do my best for children.

Our topic is about suicide. I felt the strain at the first presentation. So I could not explain well and the gesture was not exaggerated. At second presentation, I could tell audiences with presence of mind. And we could discuss well between presenters and audiences. Moreover, we could not only reply the question, but we could ask their opinions. I want to try this presentation again at the second semester!

I think that our presentation was good.
unfortunately one of the group members was absent on the day. So we had to do our best with the presentation. The poster was completed with our cooperation. And during the presentation, I could take eye contacts very much. Therefore I found whether audience understand clearly. When I thought that audience couldn't understand, I spoke slowly. Also though we were ashamed, we used many gesture. Thanks to that, audience could understand smoothly. From the above, this presentation was successful.

I felt that all group's presentations were very good and all group's posters were fantastic. Especially, I was interested in the topic of declining birth rate. This problem is very serious in Japan now and I'm worried about Japan's future. I think Japan's national power will become weak in the future if things go on like this. I feel the Japanese government, companies and so on should improve the environment for child raising. I consider the increase of parenting support will be very important. Next, as to this group, it was good to give a presentation actively in loud voices and I was easy to understand. In addition, it was great to show vocabulary cards. Finally, I could learn many things through listening three presentations and spend quality time.

I have done our presentation and I felt refreshed.
We were present about suicide. My part of present was to explain about Care-giving fatigue.
Our presentation was good because we present own part as well as one can. I learned about suicide in detail. A point for improvement is I couldn't remember my manuscript and difficult to look eyes of audiences.
We met several times to discuss about how make our presentation and poster. We mostly had no opportunities to speak except for the Oral English class. We had looked at each other many times, but we didn’t know each other very much. This lesson was good opportunities to know each other.

Because I had overslept, I was absent from the last class. Therefore I did not listen to presentation. So I write reflection this time not to do again. First of all, I prevent me from staying up late. I think that I do not oversleep if I do so it. Secondly, I act having margin. I can spend it calmly even in the morning if I do so it. Finally I want to participate eagerly from now on.

I think the group about declining birthrate was the best.Because one of presenters used presentation skills we learned especially eyes contact. Other presenter gave us question when we didn't come up with question. She also used the paper that write meaning of word. So,the presentation group was very kind. That's why I chosed this group. And the poster help us understand thier presentation. However, all groups was very good presentation.

All groups' presentations were so wonderful that I was surprised. Each group has good points so it is difficult for me to choose one of them. However, if I choose one, I choose a topic of declining birthrate. I have two reasons. First, their poster was good. It had some graphs for exaple, a circle chart and a polygonal line chart. Thanks to it, I could understand the presentation well. Second, they made vocabulary cards. The idea never occurred to me when I gave my presentation so I admired it. I think this group was thinking about audiences so much. I want to emulate this group's good points next time.

I was absent today's class, so I will talk about suicide I looked at the photo in line.
Suicide is serious issue. It is killing yourself because of bullying, stress and so on. Especially, it is more serious problem is child's suicide. Now, many people lost their lives. To solve the problem, dealing in the school is important. Actually, there is nothing to solve it perfectly, so I will suggest other solution.
First,If the student is bullied, the teacher support him. for example, consulting. But the teacher must not scold bullying people because it is meaningless and bullied people should overcome himself. In my opinion, Suicide is too. Beating yourself is essential.

I think that the best of group in mine is "Monster Parents". First, poster is so cute!!! There were three cute character of Monster Parents. Therefore letter and color of poster wae cute too!!! Second, both the subject and the explanation were interesting. Because I do an education-related part-time job, so great in monster pair Lents; was interested. Because it was school life at all and was good, the parent and the child knew that they should talk frequently.

Last week, we had a presentation. At first, I felt very nervous. But our presentation was very good, I think. Because, we could do eye contact many times. And, we prepared word cards of difficult means. It was easy to understand for audience. But, I have a point to improve. That is to speak more fluently. If I have a chance, I want to take care.

I like the presentation about suicide the best. There are some reasons. First, I am interested in suicide because a lot of people commited suicide recently. I reconfirmed the distress of suicide. Second, I knew a lot of things about suicide. I was surprised that Russia has the most suicides. Third, the presentation was very easy to understand. I want to make the next presentation better in the light of the presentation of others.

Last week, I had a presentation. I was a member of the group about ''declining birthrate''. I felt various things.Good points are I could talk well in front of all. Talking well means that I could talk in a loud voice, I could do eye contact and so on. A point i have to improve is very clear. I must do more gestures in presentation, which is important. I ,make an effort to improve a point from now on.

Our group's presentation was so good. We cooperated each other. For example, we gathered and made a poster at lunch time. In addition, I could learn suicide in Japan more. But one point I failed that I couldn't hand in outline sheet by deadline. I was so sorry for my group members. I tried to use gestures and make eye contacts that I learn during the class. I think I can improve that "not just reading". I couldn't make eye contacts because I was nervous a little. If I have a chance of presentation next time, I practice and try not to look at papers.

My presentation topic is Monster parents. In my opinion, it was better than I imagined it. At first, our group made a poster, assigning roles to each member. Secondly, I could make eye contacts with the audience, and use gestures. Thirdly, I had big smile and explain my example about monster parents. However I was very tense, so I probably couldn't speak presentation language correctly. In addition, we looked at manuscripts a lot. I should have practiced to read this. If I have opportunity for presentation, I take more time for preparations.

Last week,I was presenter.I felt presentation is so difficult.I prepared manuscript of presentation and practiced reading it,but I didn't say fluently.Maybe I didn't do eye contact. Then,I felt hard to do question time. When I was heard some question,I didn't know the answer.I think I had to research about our topic.
However, our group have many good points.More than anything, presentation was fun! Presentation in English was my first experience, but I had good time.

I like suicide presentation the best. I'm interested in psychologic problems. I'm glad that I learned a lots of this problem. I hope I help people who have big problems and stress. And I hope also children can have courage to consult to adults. Moreover, I admired the members' opinions about solutions of suicide. Especially, it is great that bullying problem has many ways that stop it. I want that this problems will decrease in the future.

I think all group was announcing very well. Among them, a topic of suicide was best in particular. It's because the manner of the announcement was best. I was charmed by the announcement by which eye contacts and gestures was used. About the contents, also, I think suicide is one of most important problem in Japan. It's because Japanese people lose happiness of living. This is the problem which should be confronted seriously by everyone. Thinking about suicide, their announcement was help very much.
