Hi everyone! I can't believe October is almost over! Presentation Structure & Expressions At the beginning of our lesson, we review presentation structure and expressions from last semester. We also looked at a model outline to help you organize your information for your outlines. You can find these handouts at the end of today's summary. Don't forget to start your presentation research. Your group will have to submit an outline by Friday, November 1. Halloween Interactions: For next week's interactions, group leaders will have to choose a Halloween theme. You can choose from this list of movie trailers. After you choose your movie trailer, please email me to let me know your topic. I think our video discussion is more difficult. I have two reasons. First, I don't have many opportunity to use English and especially I hardly hear English. So, I am not good at following what a person says in English. Second, it is difficult for me ro find attractive videos because there is limit about length. And I think that newspepar's topic is a current topic so it is easy for me to set deep questions and to develop related matters. But it is difficult to do so in video discussion. I think video discussion is more difficult for those reasons but this activity is meaningful. Listening is essential to increase my skill of English so I try to do my best.

I think the newspaper article discussions are more difficult than our video discussions. It is difficult for me to summarize the article correctly. When I summarize it, I couldn't find similar word. Because I don't usually use English in my ordinary life, I take much time to say in different words. If I don't know the news which is chosen by a group leader well, I can't state a lot of opinion.On the other hand, our video discussions are very interesting activities for me. I'm not good at listening English, but it is good training for listening. And Interaction theme is familiar, so I can have interests. That's why I think the newspaper article discussions are more difficult than our video discussions.

I find our newspaper article discussions are more difficult than our video discussions. I have two reasons about this. First, it’s a little difficult for me to make my worksheet. I have to find the article, read it, summarize it and think my opinion. I sometimes can’t understand the article because it’s used the difficult words. In addition, I’m not good at summarizing because I sometimes can’t find the same meaning words well. Second, I think it’s difficult for me to tell the summary to my discussion group members. When I was the discussion leader, I couldn’t explain well and they sometimes couldn’t understand, so I felt it’s difficult for me to tell someone in English. Perhaps, I haven’t been the video discussion leader yet, so I think the newspaper article discussions are more difficult than the video discussions. I will be discussion leader at next class, so I want to do my best!

In my opinion, I think that video discussions are more difficult than newspaper ones because I’m not good at listening. In video ones, when I was a group leader, I had to listen to my movie trailer many times in order to make activities. Also, when I was a group member, I thought it difficult to complete activities in a short time. In newspaper ones, group members can ask the leader to speak more slowly if they can’t understand what the leader was saying. However, in video ones, even if members can get some hints from the leader, they cannot adjust the speed of the video. Therefore, I think that video ones need higher listening skills than newspaper ones. But I think that video ones are more interesting than newspaper ones because videos delight our eyes. In this semester, I’d like to improve my listening skills with enjoyment.

I think our newspaper article discussions are more difficult. I have two reasons. First, the topics of newspaper article are difficult to understand. For example topic is about government, economics or finance. On the other hand, video topic is about study, attitude, or our life. Second, newspaper articles are difficult to find. I think news articles' websites are all over the place like a mad woman's breakfast. I'm enjoy to do video discussions.

I think our video discussion is more difficult than that of newspaper we had in last semester. Here I have 2 reasons for this. First, the video, especially movie trailer, speaks very fast and for native speakers. Sometimes the actors speak in direct, so they are very difficult to distinguish what they speak. In fact, when I was a leader last time, there were some mistakes that one of my member noticed me. For the second reason, when I was a leader, I have to take a look at all members whether they are catching up with me. And if there are some problem with understanding or listening, I have to support. It is difficult to support with understanding. For all of these, I think our video discussion is more diffcult.

I think our video discussions is more difficult than our newspaper articles discussions. Firstly, I am poor at listening to English. So for me, it is difficult to listen to the video of English and write down it on the paper. Secondly, it is difficult to adjust the time of our discussion. We have a lot of things, for example pre-discussion questions, vocabularies, activities and so on. So it is difficult to manage the time. Therefore, I think our video discussions is more difficult.

I think that our newspaper article discussions is more difficult than our video discussions. The reason is that we had to talk a lot in our newspaper article discussions. But, In our video discussions, we have to take time to watch the video and do activities. So, our video discussions reduce our burdens. Another reason is that theme of our video discussions are decided. I was discommoded by choice of the news topic in our newspaper article discussions. I used to took a lot of time to choose the news topic. Considering these reason, I think that our newspaper article discussions is more difficult than our video discussions.

I think last semester′s newspaper article work was more difficult than the video work. I don't like reading serious writing. I get bored and tired when I read those kinds of writing. However, the video work is fun to work on. The story we watch is interesting. Also, a video from videojug teaches us tips to live our better. That can be useful. I think it is worth watching. These are the reasons why I like video activity better.

I think that our newspaper article discussions is more difficult than video discussions. It is because it is difficult for me to read a newspaper article and summarize it. I had to make it suitable length, that is to say not too long and not too short. Then, the articles have difficult words mostly, so I sometimes needed to look up them in a dictionary. In contrast, our video discussions are fun for me, because I am interested in watching films which are about psychology and education. For these reasons, I find that newspaper article discussions is more hard for me.

I find our video discussions more difficult. I am good at reading long texts, but I'm not good at listening. What people say in videos are fast for me. Video discussions are difficult; however, they are more interesting than newspaper article discussions. That's because most of video discussions' topics are familiar to us. Video discussions and newspaper article discussions help me to develop English and presentation skills. Both are difficult but important

I think our video discussion is more difficult than last semester's news discussion. I am not good at listening English because I hardly hear it as the native language. Before I present the video, I need to listen to it carefully so many times when I'm a discussion leader. Furthermore, when I'm a group member, I ask the leader to watch one more again or confirm the vocabulary that I can't understand. While, there are many opportunities to read and write English. I can more easily summarize news article and write my opinion than transcript the video. news discussion's leaders spoke slowly or use gestures when I couldn't understand. I must improve listening skill through this semester.

In my opinion, I think that video discussions are more difficult than that of newspaper. I have two reasons for this. First, it is difficult for me to listen the whole article correctly. Sometimes I can't listen some words and mistake the words in the article. However, in newspaper, we can read each sentences and we never mistake the words or idioms when we write our reports. Second, I have difficulty finding videos which I think everyone in class are interested in. I think that choosing an interesting video is important to make the discussion exciting. I would like to practice listening and try to make the discussion interesting for my discussion members.

I think newspaper article discussions are more difficult than video discussions. Topics were more difficult in the last semester so it was hard for me to choose a simple and interesting article. In the newspaper, there were many words which I didn't know like technical words. Also, I have to read a long difficult article and write my opinion. I always use my dictionary and it took me a lond time to translation from English into Japanese. When I chose the article about ovum bank, the topic was very interesting for me but it is difficult to write my opinion.

i think news article discussion is easier to work on than video discussion is to do. news paper article discussion is mainly on improving our ability to read and summarize sentences correctly.i think it may be easier for us as university student in japan to read english than to listen to english. it's because we just only focused on reading skill and grammar for exam for permission to enter college.

I think the listening discussion is more difficult because you have to repeat the movie many times. It's also hard since you have to write down every single word and this takes a lot of time. On the other hand, when you write about an article, you just got to read it a few times and this was easy for me.

I think our news paper article discussions are more difficult than our video discussions. It was difficult for me to find and choose interesting newspaper article. Therefore it took long time to finish the worksheet. However, I think summarizing news paper article in worksheet was help us to study of reading and writing English.

It was more difficult for me to do newspaper article discussion. I felt it needed more ability of understanding and writing. So it took a lot of time to write summaries and opinions. And in video discussion, I can watch video or picture with listening. It helps us to understand the topic. And also I think it has more power to attract attention of listeners. Thus, I felt it more interesting and easier to do video discussions. These are reasons why I felt newspaper article discussion more difficult than video discussion.

I feel that the video discussions are more difficult than the newspaper article discussions. When I discussed the newspaper article, it was more easy to understand what the article said. That is why I could ask my group leader to tell me what I didn't understand. Even though I couldn't follow what my group leader was talking about, he stopped and talked more slowly. What is more, he talked in plain English. However, I cannot do these things in video discussions. The video doesn't adapt a listening level to me. I must understand most of the contents by myself. Therefore the video discussions are more difficult for me but I try hard to participate in them. Leave a Reply. |
