OE2 Fall 2013:  Lesson 6

11/1/2013

Hi everyone,

I hope you enjoyed the Halloween interactions yesterday.  I was going through Shibuya station last night and I couldn't believe how many people were in costumes!

Presentation Visuals:
In the first part of our lesson, we spent time on learning about different types of visual aids and how to make powerpoint slides.

Type of Visuals:
When you prepare your slides for your presentation, you can use a variety of visuals, such as:
1.  horizontal and/or vertical bar graphs
2.  pie graphs
3.  tables
4.  illustrations / photographs
5.  maps
6.  diagrams
7.  tables

Listening Interactions:
Everyone did a great job in the pre- and post discussions.   Leaders are getting better at managing their time.

Some of you had a little trouble with giving instructions.  When you give instructions, use the infinitive form of the verb.  Here are some common expressions you can use during your interactions.

a.    Repeat after me. (for pronunciation practice)
b.   Please listen to the video now.
c.    Put the sentences in the correct order.
d.   Fill-in-the-blanks.

Homework:
1.  Interactions preparation (see schedule)
2.  Listening Report #3 (due:  November 14)
3.  Presentation Outline (due:  November 4 by 6:00pm)
