Hi everyone, Can you smell the ginko nuts (銀杏) on campus? They were really stinky this morning! Interactions: We had our first round of listening interactions. I was really impressed that ALL of you remembered many of our discussion skills from last semester, such as using showing interest and making eye contact. The feedback from today's interactions is attached at the end of this entry. These are the comments I typed on the screen during our lesson. For next week's leaders, please include these pointers into your interactions. Presentation Guidelines: In the last part of our lesson, you received the guidelines for your presentations in December. For this semester, you will prepare a 20-minute slide presentation with your group on the activities of an NPO/NGO. Homework: 1. Listening Interactions preparation (see schedule) 2. Listening Report #1 3. Blog Post #3 4. Presentation Topic (make a list of 3-4 topics) Blog Question #3: Tell me about your experience in your first Listening Interactions in today's class. For example, if you were the group leader, what did you do well? what were some difficulties? etc. If you were a group member, what did you think of the activities? What were some difficulties? etc. *Write 8-10 sentences. *Use capitalization, punctuation & spelling correctly. *Submit by Wednesday, October 16 by 6:00pm. ![]()

What I felt strongly in Listening Interactions was my lack of listening skill. I could not make out what some actors said correctly. So, I could not fill correct words in a few blanks. In addition, my lack of listening skill delayed our group work because I listened the trailer repeatedly. If i were the group leader, I could not finish Listening Interaction preparation in such short time. Fortunately, I still have plenty of time. I think that writing down what the actor or actress says takes long time. So, I want to ensure that preparation of Listening Interaction is flawless.

I was a group member of the first listening interaction. I felt the gap of the level of the listening ability. One member had the good ability. She coul understand English in the video well. However. I couldn't. I was disappointed at my listening ability. I must make more efforts every day. At the next time , I will be a group leader, so I try to make a good sheet of the listening interaction!!

I was the group leader in the last class and I should the group members the video of "How To Get Off The Phone With Someone Who Won't Shut Up". In the lesson, I think I could ask questions which are suitable for the video's theme and I could spoke all my group members equally. It was good for me that they tried to talk positively. But I have two points which should be improved. First, my understanding about an order was not enough. So I noticed that there was things which I should do after teacher's pointing out. Second, the activities lacked devices. I want to make more meaningful activities next time. I took long time to choose video and couldn't take plenty of time to enrich the contents. So, I should tackle the work earlier timing.

In my first Listening Interactions, I was a group member. Listening was a little difficult, but I was excited. When I first watched the movies, I couldn’t listen so much. However, the more times I listened, the better I listened what actors and actress said. I couldn’t listen to all words, so I want to progress my listening skill in Listening Interactions and listen better. I don’t know whether I could use many of the discussion skills from last semester. I intended to use showing interest and make eye contact, but I think I couldn’t do so well. Therefore, I also want to use many discussion skills better. There were many things I didn’t know because it was my first Listening Interactions, so in the next discussions, I want to do more actively.

I was a group member in my first listening interactions class. In first interaction, I watched the video which title is "how to balance works and relationships." I was able to listen to the sentences and understand the contents. So, I could solve the questions of two activities. However, in my second time interactions, there were some difficult sentences I couldn't listen and understand. As I listen to the video many times, I could understand it more and more clearly. In the discussion, I gave my opinion. But, I want to speak English by using more words.

I was a group member and listened two listening interaction about movies. They were very good and interesting; however, I felt listening and writing down words are difficult. I've done listening practice since I was a junior high school student, but most of them had made for English learner. In a movie trailer made for native speaker, the speed of talking is faster. Also, there are background music and so on, it was hard to umderstand spoken English. I thought feeling genuine English is important through this interaction. I want to watch more movie trailer to develop my English skill. Learning pleasantly must be the best way to make progress in our English.

I felt the difficulty of making other group members understood about the movie they don’t know. They haven’t watched the movie, that’s, they don’t have knowledge and background about it. So, I had to explain about the movie in advance. In addition to that, I was the first group leader. So, I explored new avenues without having any clues. I think it is very hard to prepare. But we have little opportunity to listen to English. And we can use trailer of movie we like. So it was very interesting to do it.

I was a group member in first Listening Interactions in last lesson. When I listened a group leader's presentation, I felt that it is so hard to understand correct characters's lines in a video. I can't put correct words in blanks, because the words of characters in a movie were too quick to catch. Through the experience in last class, I think that I should improve listening skills more. Moreover in the week after next I will be group leader, so I would also like to make progress of speaking skills. Seeing group leaders, I thought that how to ask questions to group members seems to be difficult. In the next lesson, I want to observe the method of questions of group leader and study it by the teacher's instruction.

I was a group member in my first listening interaction. I realized lack of my listening ability. I had difficulties to understand the video that I haven't watched. I must improve my listening skill and if I can't understand the video, I should ask a group leader to watch it again. Furthermore, I couldn't tell my opinion well. Although we should remember free conversation style, I couldn't do it. I couldn't tell my opinion untill a group leader asked me. I'll do my best to tell my opinion positively. I'll be group leader in next listening interaction. I'll care group members can understand the video and tell their opinion freely.

I was the group leader in the Listening Interaction last class. I chose a movie "How To Balance Work And Relationships". There were two difficulties for me. First, when I was preparing for the Listening Interaction, it was hard to decide what kind of questions I will ask to my group members. I think that the questions should be interesting not only for me but also for the group members. Another difficulty was to make sure that all members pay attention when I speak. I didn't care if my group members were paying attention to me. I think that it is important for the group leaders to ask the members whether they are following or not. It can help the members understand what leaders want to say. I would like to ask my members "Are you following me?" and make sure of everyone paying attention to me next time.

I was a group member of my first Listening Interactions in last class. I watched 2 short movies, one was a movie trailer and the other was a short film about how to cut off the telephone. I thought my two group leaders were done very well. I think this activitie is very interesting because I love to watch movie trailers. Also this could be a perfect training to distinguish what the native actors say in the movies.However, the difficulty is that it could be a load on leaders' mind for prepareing the worksheet. It is more complicated than last semester. I believe students in our class will improve the listening skill in the end of the year.

I was a group member of my first Listening Interactions. I didn't have much difficulties in listening and watching the video. It was more of a enjoying video time for me. The videos were definitely not the type I would watch out of the class. They were very interesting. Both of the group leaders explained everything neatly. I liked how they cared about all the members. In total I liked this activity. This week is my turn to be the leader. I'll try to do it neatly so everyone could follow me.

I was a group member of my first Listening Interactions. It was not more difficult to understand than I expected. The first topic is about child confidence. If you want to get a confident child, you should give them a lot of praise and say "you really made an effort." Of course I don't have my child yet. However, if I have my children, I want to follow this way. This interview video is easy to listening, so I can do activity comfortably. Next class, I will be a group leader. I want do the Listening Interactions in a plain way.

I thought the listening interaction activities were fun because I got to watch some videos that I wouldn't watch at home. Talking about the videos and somethings related to them were also fun. There weren't much difficulties with the activities but I had a hard time doing them in the correct order. I accidently did a few of them at the same time and got confused because everyone else were still doing them.

I was the group leader in my first Listening Interaction. There were some difficulties for me. First, when I tried to make a worksheet, it was hard to choose a movie because there were a lot of movies but there were a few movies I could understand. What is more, it was difficult to make activities that were not easy but my group member could do. Second, during my Listening Interaction, it was difficult to expand my group's discussion. I couldn't tell what I wanted to say in English well. I felt lack of my English skill. However, I think there was a good point. I could make sure that all members of my group followed me and gave their opinion. For example, "Do you understand?" or "How about you?". Therefore, in my next Listening Interaction, I will try to speak English more actively without fear of making mistakes and take care of this good point.

I was a group member in listening interactions. Through the listening interactions, I feel keenly a lack of my listening skills. The result of it, I watch the movie repeatly. In addition, I didn't answer skills activity because I don't have any confident in my answer. When listening leader asks me the answer, I said "I don't know." I was afraid of a wrong answer,so I didn't answer the question with confidence. In next class, I want to struggle the activity without being afraid of taking mistakes. I also would like to improve my listening skill as I do listening interactions.

I was the group member in my first Listening Interaction. I watched two short movie trailers. At first, it was hard for me to understand what the actors or actresses said. I could not answer listening activities; to order the sentences and fill in some blanks. However, I come to understand little by little after I listened it several times. When I got the points, I felt a sence of achievement. I think Listening interaction is more difficult than news discussion we did last semester, but I believe we can improve our listening ability a lot. I want to participate actively and do my best.

what i learn and realize in that listening interaction are that my english ability for listening and speaking is very poor and also how important this class is.
